Moss Moss Moss

Moss is arguably the most dominant aspect of the Pacific Northwest, and nowhere is this more prevelant than in the Hoh Rainforest. The tall trunks and cool, wet weather of the old-growth forest creates the perfect conditions for growing mosses and lichen, which it does with great skill. They’re everywhere, blanketing rocks and fallen logs, climbing up tree trunks, and hanging in sheets from branches and the canopy. The subtle shades of green and brown and its transparency in sunlight makes moss a unique and captivating subject to photograph.
